media center killed

E-mail Print PDF

so i went and did it.  i gave up the home theater pc for the moment.  i needed a place to have secure data and backups.  so i blew away the family room media center and reused it for a windows home server.  its working out rather well.  my data is safe and i also have it backing up real time to idrive.

i am now in the search for a new home theater pc for the family room.  my wife has insisted that we be able to watch movies and dvd's on the big tv.  so i begin the search.

so tomorrow is the day.  i have just figured out that the media center in our living room is not going to make the cut.  so i will begin to make a hybrid of systems.  i am going to bring our high def dvr cable box from time warner upstairs from the basement and utiltize it along with the digital tv tuner from my home office.  with those two tuners and also the ota high def antenna internal to the tv, i should be able to have a good mix of options.  the logitech harmony will manage it all very nicely providing a high waf.
